Mouse works but no double click.

Please help. I have lived with the problem for over 6 months but now I need
it.

My mouse works in every way except for the double click function. I am
running Windows XP and have tried various mice (?mouses) but they all act the
same way. I have checked mouse settings, reloaded drivers, replaced the
touch pad etc etc but all to no avail. I have set my windows to accept a
single click (underline) which has kept me going until now - I have software
recently installed that requires the double click funtion. HELP ME
PLEASE????????

Open my computer, click tools menu and then folder options then select double
click, if you have already done that then make sure you are an administrator
when you do it, I believe a limited account won't save the setting, so adjust
folder options as an administrator.

Let me know how you get on, post again if it doe's not work ?

Thanks Andy, but this is of no help. I've actually had to set this setting
to single click because my double click just doesn't respond. I have tested
the various mice on various machines and they work so it is a problem on my
machine. Have sent the laptop back to manufacturers who replaced the
touchpad and claimed that it was a software problem. They claim it's a
hardware problem. Am getting really frustrated as one specific application
requires double clicking functionality

You have confused me slightly aj, is it your laptop touchpad that does not
double click or a mouse you have plugged in via usb or ps2 that does not
double click ?

let me know ?
