Mouse Question

Thomas R Grassi Jr

When I connect to anothers pc using Remote assitance the mouse disappears
from there screen. It moves without movement of the mouse. Only when I view,
if I take control then my mouse works. Any known issues with the mouse? I
like to like the users show me what they are doing that is why I view only.
But if they loose control of the mouse it does not help

Windows XP Home/Pro SP2

Any ideas?

Thanks

Tom

Hmmm... It does not work that way on my small test network. When I view my
desktop (the Novice) from my laptop (the Expert), via Remote Assistance, the
desktop mouse pointer works when the desktop user moves it but the mouse
pointer on the laptop does not follow the Novice mouse's movement. The
laptop mouse only moves when I move it on the laptop. Both mouse pointers
are displayed on each desktop. Both mouse's are independent, which is what I
would expect. Please note that I can see programs and windows open on my
laptop when the desktop user opens them...

If I take control of the desktop from my laptop then the mouse pointer on
the desktop moves when I move my laptop mouse. In this case both the Novice
and Expert can watch the Expert programs and windows open when the Expert
does that...

This is internal to my home LAN by the way. My laptop is connected via an
802.11g 54 Mbps wireless link to the LAN. Both my laptop and desktop are
running XP Pro SP2 and fully patched.

Does this happen with all Novice desktops or only certain ones?

A wild guess it make sure your running the latest video drivers on your
desktop, but that is a wild guess at best. The only other thing to check is
to see if there are any cryptic messages in the event logs. I guess it could
also be an issue with the type of network your running over, ie. the public
internet, a local LAN or a dial up network...
