Mouse jumping

I'm running WinXP Home with AMD processor. My MS Basic Optical Mouse (or its
cursor of course) keeps jumping unwantedly, usually from the point where it
is to somwhere near the edge or corner of the screen. IntelliPoint program
in control. Whassa matta?

try with other mouse, with ball per example

Try another surface, preferably a non-reflective and non-glossy surface.
Optical mouses tends to have some problems with some surfaces, especially
plain and glossy surfaces.

Make sure also that there is nothing on the mouse captor/light, I've seen
this trouble happen with cat hair/dust on the lense.
