Mouse Freezes with New Hard Disk (P4B533-E)

I'm using an Asus P4B533-E mobo and I've just installed a new Seagate
160GB drive. OS is WinXP Pro SP-1.

My previous configuration, which worked fine, was just 2 120GB disks
on the RAID controller, CD-ROM as Primary IDE master.

Now, I still have the 2 120GB disks on the RAID controller, but the
new 160GB HD is the Primary IDE master, and the CD-ROM is the
secondary IDE master.
I have the drive jumpered to be a master.

I am not moving, and do not want to move the OS. I just want the
extra storage.

Problem: My mouse now freezes up every few seconds.

When I disengage the drive and reboot, the mouse problem does not
manifest. When I hook the drive up again, it returns.

Has anyone seen this? Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

I'd be most grateful ...

Homer, I have a EnerMax EG365AX-VE supply.

Are there any diagnostics I can run that would indicate this is
insufficient?

Can anyone point me to any reference on the web that would indicate
the power supply as possibly the problem?

Can anyone describe the mechanism whereby an undersized power supply
leads to mouse freezes?

I don't feel I have enought information to start burning up the
plastic yet ...

Is the IDE controller recognized correctly? (If not, the Intel INF
Update may be necessary.) If you are using the IAA, try using the
standard Windows drivers, or vice versa. Check the new drive's SMART
values, with DTemp for example. (You may want to post the log.)

Could someone kindly tell me:

What is DTemp?
What log is referred to?
How would I know if the Intel INF update is required?

Sorry for my ignorance, this box has worked very well in the past.
