BIOS hard disk detection with P4C800 deluxe

Hello,

My IDE hard drive plugged in primary master is detected half of the time. I
often need to reboot to get it. The jumper is set on master and the drive is
alone on the channel. There're just two other disks mounted on the Promise
RAID controller. I've tried to put it on Auto and ARMD : same problem. What
is the equivalent for "USER HD" ?

What brand of hard drive is this?
Have you tried another IDE cable?
Also make sure the power connector is secure.
or try another connector.
Have you tried the drive on both IDE channels?
If the drive is a Western Digital remove all the jumpers
when it's the only drive on the channel.
Set the drive detection in the BIOS to Auto.

Seagate.

This cable has worked a few days ago with another motherboard. I'll try a
new cable though.

They're good.

There's a DVD burner on secondary master. If i put the hard drive on it too,
it'll run in UDMA66 instead of ATA100, right ?

OK, thank you..

lost most control of my fingers so pleaqe bear with me, it hurts like hell 2
type.

some drives have a master setting AND a single drive setting make sure u
verify it doesnt have that one.. cause master setting does not mean the same
as single drifve...

Seagate drives need to be told how to behave properly with their own disk
management software (Disk Wizard - can be downloaded from the Seagate site)
which loads before the OS. Been caught by this one before. If you still have
problems, try using this software.
