Mouse freezes- No Polling?

Hi all,
An interesting annoyance has recently developed on two Win2k servers
using a single keyboad and mouse through a KVM switch. Normally the computer
being used will poll the keyboard and mouse once a second and I know this
because the Scroll light blinks once a second. But, after I've left the mouse
and keyboad for as little as one minute, the polling (blinking) will stop and
the Mouse then freezes. Usually, I can unfreeze it by hitting Escape on the
keyboard, but I should not have to. Any ideas on fixing this?

BTW, it's not the KVM switch. because it worked fine untill I did a MS
security rollup the other day and it is passing the computer's polling to the
keyboard OK.

Thanks for any help.

Found the answer to the problem myself. When I rebooted, I got a dialog box
indicating the system log was full. In checking it, I found that it was full
of error msgs re: i8042prt timed out. After clearing the log, I found in KB
an article about increasing the timeout value in the registry for the i8042
port which controls keyboards and mouse. I think that did it. Thanks for all
your help. :)
