More than 2 HDD (?)

I'd like to temporarily install some IDE HDDs that were in
my previous system.

Present mainboard (GigaByte GA-M55plus-S3g) has only one HDD
controller/connector.

Is it trivial to install another controller card and get
these drives working so I can shuffle some data around?

If so, how can I figure out which card to get?

This is a Win2k system, if that matters.

That board has two IDE channels. See the white and green connectors?
That's them. You can install 4 IDE devices.

You are right, of course. I currently have two CD-ROM
drives and two HDDs connected. My mind was astray when I
composed that question!

I'd like to keep all of the above connected and add two more
HDDs.

You dont need anything special. Its easier if the card doesnt support RAID.

You don't need the CD/DVD connected to transfer files from the old HD to the new HD.

In that case, yes, it's trivial to add a controller card. Add the card,
boot up, add the drivers and voila you should be able to see whatever
drives are connected to the card.
