MOOL Questions

Would Mool be considered a good way to sync Calendar/Email/Contacts between
multiple computers?

Can I see all my pop email with all the rules I have in outlook in
hotmail.com ??

thanks.

It would be if the license allows you to run the Outlook 2003 desktop
software that's included on multiple machines. We'll try to find out.

Could be. At least you'd have a central repository independent of any
computer.

Since Hotmail and POP use different message stores and protocols, my guess
is "maybe."

Yes. MOOL allows two outlook licenses, and if you already have outlook
installed, the MSN Outlook connector installs on unlimited systems. The
connector allows you to set the MSN mailbox as your default message store,
so you can put let the pop mail in the msn store and it'll sync with the msn
server.

What about contacts and calendar? I bought Mool hoping it will allow me to
do all this. I see I can drag events between calendars. And I can drag
contacts online/offline. But it doesnt have anything to automatically SYNC
these items so what is online is same as the laptop/desktop.

thanks!

How are these licenses tracked? Do you have to activate the copy of
Outlook?

it syncs what is in the MSN message store locally and if the msn mailbox is
the default message store, it syncs everything. If not, you also need to use
intellisync... but I recommend setting the msn store as default unless you
have a good reason why you don't want to.

yes, you need to activate. AFAIK, you can save the activation (instructions
at outlook-tips.net) but I didn't think to confirm it.

Lawrence, can you explain what you are trying?
What account you have in your desktop and what in Laptop?Have you
configured the same Hotmail account using MOOL in your laptop and
desktop? Are you saying that calendar/contacts created in your desktop
Hotmail account doesn't get synced to your Hotmail account in Laptop?
Between which two calendars/contacts are you dragging events? and where
are you expecting it to be syced?

I guess I was picturing Mool as something where what is online is a mirror
of what is in outlook(Contacts, Calendar, Email etc)...

I check 3 pop email accounts and have a couple of calendars, contacts, tasks
in outlook. I was hoping these would automatically be in sync with what is
online. So If I go online, its kinda like looking at a virtual outlook... I
guess that was what I was picturing with "Outlook Live" ....

But all it seems to do is let me see my hotmail stuff inside of outlook, and
thats it!!! I still need to get active sync to sync this stuff?? What a
shame.... Since I already have outlook, I am starting to wonder if this
wasn't such a good purchase.

it will do that - you need to set the msn message store to be the default
(any of the accounts can be default for sending new mail) so the pop mail is
delivered to the msn store. It gets uploaded to the servers and downloaded
on any machine you configure with the outlook connector. All you your
contacts, calendar etc are stored in the default store and they should all
sync ok (if not, you may need to use one folder and categories for each
non-mail item type).

Your folder list (ctrl+6) will look like:

- (e-mail address removed)
- Calendar
- contacts
- deleted items
- inbox
- junk mail
- tasks

and all of the mail from each pop account will be in the Inbox folder
(unless you use rules to move it).

if you see
- (e-mail address removed)
-calendar
- contacts
- deleted items
- inbox
- junk mail
- tasks
- personal folders
-calendar
- contacts
- deleted items
- inbox
- junk mail
- tasks

and personal folders is where you pop mail is delivered to and where you
store your calendar, contacts etc, it won't work.

Just in case you were wondering how to set your msn message store as
the default, here is how you should do it
Go To Tools->Email Accounts->View or change existing email Accounts
Choose your hotmail account in the list and hit 'Set as default'
In the 'Deliver new e-mail to the following location' combo box choose
the hotmail account and hit 'Finish'

After doing this you can create all your calendar,contacts... items in
the msn store and will replicate to server

We set this up and it seemed to import only the first 1000 contacts. The PST
address book that we tried to export to MOOL has 2000 contact records. Is
MOOL limited to storing only 1000 contact records? TIA. mw

I'll double check, but I believe MSN does have a 1000 contact limit.

There is a 1,000 contact limit (and Outlook warns you of that fact,
unfortunately) according to MSN technical support. My support
"technician" said there was a work around by syncing less than 1,000
contacts at a time (so sync folders with less than 1,000 each sync,
"pumping up" the hotmail contact folder). I tried doing that, running
the Intellisync software but MSN still rejects it.

Apparently, there is a 1,000 limit on the ONLINE Hotmail account (even
though you have 2GB of storage). He also admitted that this limit is
not disclosed before you buy the software.

Luckily, he gave me the number to call for a refund of the amount. I
have no desire to use a product that can synchronize 1/3 of my 2700
contacts.

I'll double check, but I believe MSN does have a 1000 contact limit.

Online does have a 1000 limit and to the best of my knowledge, you can't
have multiple folders with 1000 contacts to get around it.

Diane, do you know the reason Microsoft put a limit on the contacts? I
could understand limiting the storage space (overall), but why put an
artificial limit of 1,000 on contacts?

This limitation is the sole reason I cancelled my 4 hour old account.
Even though I had 2GB storage for e-mail (1% used), I immediately maxed
out the contacts. If storage isn't the issue, is this a strategy by
Microsoft to not allow Outlook Live become a substitute for Exchange
Server?

Online does have a 1000 limit and to the best of my knowledge, you can't
