monitor settings

I have Win XP with an AMD XP chip and an ATI Radeon 9100 video card. I have
an Envision 19" CRT monitor. All drivers (including the monitor) seem ok.
I have my video settings for 1280 x 1024. The problem is that I have some
black on the sides of my monitor. About 1/2 inch on each side. When I use
the controls on the front of the monitor, I have hit 100% on extending the
screen to the right and left, but I really need to go a bit more to get rid
of the black border.

Is there some way I can "tweak" something so I can get more than the 100%
that I am currently getting????? (I see the illogic of this statement but I
hope you understand what I am trying to do)

In short, how can I extend the viewable screen even more when it tells me I
am maxed out at 100% and not allowing me to go any wider??

Thanks

Right click Desktop>>Properties>>Settings>>
Advanced>>ATI Displays>>click the fattish looking
button in the upper left of the upper left of the four boxes
under the Scheme dialog (mine says Monitor on it)>>
Adjustments.

There's the screen size options.

This assumes you have ATI Catalyst whatever installed.

To start with, understand that this is a monitor issue and has
absolutely nothing to do with Windows.

That said, you can try to increase the scan rate (Display Properties,
Settings, Advanced, Monitor) to the highest setting. This may increase
the distance (but on you monitor, it may actually decrease it).

Um, it might IF his display driver is set to *shrink* the image-
it may NOT be possible, with the monitor sizing controls on
the monitor itself, to get the image to fill the screen ;-)

Another possibility, and one which I did not bring up due
to the ugliness of it, is that the high voltage section of your monitor
has started to fail, which would "shrink" the image as you have
described.

Thank you. I tried your tip below and it worked out fine.

Thanks again.
