Monitor Resolution and Bit Settings Keep changing

Hey guys,

I've been running into a problem recently with my monitor. I have Dell D630
Laptop with Vista Business x32 with a NVidia Quadro NVS 135M. I also have a
triple monitor setup using TripleHead2Go by Matrox. This wasn't a problem
before, but I take my laptop home a lot and bring it back to work. For the
most part, it would keep the resolution (or I would have to make small
adjustments and for that session, the settings would remain even after
locking my computer).

For some reason, my triple monitor keeps going to an 8 bit color scheme. If
I change it back to 32 bit, lock my computer, and log back in, the monitors
will blink and revert back to 8 bit. The only thing I can think of is I
recently hooked up my laptop to my TV to watch some movies, but I've done
that in the past on numerous occasions.

I have tried reinstalling the graphic drivers (tried 3 different times) and
still nothing. I went to another workstation and plugged a different monitor
in and that worked fine. I tried changing the resolution on my 3 monitors to
something smaller. When I lock my machine and log back in, it reverts back
to the old resolution setting as well as going back to 8 bit.

I'm going to try reinstalling the drivers for the TripleHead2Go and see if
that helps.

Are there any registry settings that I can change manually? My guess is
that Vista keeps profiles on certain monitor settings and I'm wondering if
that can be changed manually.

Any help is much appreciated.

Well, I just tried installing the Matrox driver/software and that didn't help
either. The one time on a reboot that I got the resolution to stay, my
desktop settings didn't load.

The only other thing I can try is to bring my laptop back to the monitor I
was using at home, but I really hope there's an option to manually change it.

I just tried updating the graphic drivers through Device Manager (got .inf
files from Dell) and after installing, it then prompted me about how I wanted
to display the monitors (always happens when a new monitor is plugged in). I
thought I was golden, but when I locked/logged in, same problem.
