Monitor not recognized

My monitor is showing as "Default Monitor" on the display properties- The
properties box is grey so I can't install a driver for my AOC monitor- I have
sone this before but have upgraded the computer and forgot how to fix this-
my screen resolution is driving me crazy!!!

Install the vendor supplied driver for your video adapter, or download
and install the correct one from the video card manufacturers web site.

HI- thank you for the info- that was what I had forgotten- I did download the
driver BUT I can't see a monitor or device in my device manager to update-

If you have the correct driver for the video card then normally the
monitor will be correctly identified. As to the "monitor driver" there
isn't such an animal, only an .inf file (contains the information about
a particular monitors capabilities) Locate/download the inf file and
follow the instructions.
