I have noticed recently that my monitor icon is always lit and bytes
always being transmitted and received, even when I am not using my
laptop. I'm sure it didn.t always do this.
I was wondering if there is any way of finding out which
program/resourse is sending/receiving.
I,m not that savy so can anyone explain in layman's terms.
Thanks in advance

It is, in my opinion, a very good indication of awareness.

Make sure to run a full system scan for malware and IMO don't be
frightened to pull the always on connection to your ISP
