monitor color

I run MSN XP edition with a 4 year old Gateway system.
My color is so bad, I am only seeing blues greens whites
and some awful colors that should be reds and yellows.
Does my monitor need to be replaced or is the system
slowly dying. I was wondering if it is time to invest in
a new computer?

Sure sounds like it.

Is there any option in display settings to adjust color?
Boot into safe mode, if colours now OK its a graphics card problem, if not
its a monitor.
Borrow someone elses monitor to test
