I just recently got a new computer and lcd moniter. when i initially got
everything plugged in and setup windows xp it worked fine. trouble began when
i started to try and setup the moniter. It is a BenQ FP731 17" moniter and
the directions for its setup said that te resolution needs to be 1280 x 1024.
That resolution is currently out of range of the moniter which only uses 800
x 600. I'm not sure what i did but after I restarted the computer one time,
after the windows loading screen the screen would go blank and display
nothing. I now have no idea what to do so that i can continue to use my
computer. Please help.

Hello Ian!
try booting in safe mode (start your computer and continually tap the F8
key) you should get a screen with options select vga mode you should be able
to correct your settings here.

try to launch window in safe mode turn on your pc and keep hitting the f8
key until the menu appear then choose safe mode if your windows is loading
just go back to the display prefs and change the resolution. or at the menu
try last knowed good config .
