Can't stay online with moniter turned off?

I have a dell dimension 4700 with a Radeon x300 series flatscreen moniter. I
have a wireless card attached to my pc via usb. It's attached directly to the
computer and not the flat screen moniter. It kicks me offline whenever my
moniter is turned off. Is there any way to keep the online connection while
the moniter is powered down? I have been using the blank screen saver for
some darkness while I sleep, but it isn't enough. I'd really like to be able
to turn it off and stay online.

I'd say try this...

WinKey + Pause Break or System Control Panel applet
Hardware tab
Device manager button
Right click your NIC
Power Management tab
UNTICK the option to allow the PC to disable that device to save power

That's what I thought was the problem, but the power save option for my
wireless adapter was already disabled. I don't know if this has anything to
do with it, but there are also certain web pages I visit that will kick me
offline as well, and I'll have to repair my internet connection every time to
get back online. If it will help, my wireless adapter is a Dell Wireless
1450 Dual-band (802.11a/b/g) USB2.0 Adapter.

I'm going to be completely and brutally honest. <g> Well, not brutal... But
with the information I've got from you I'm not able to think of a reason
that this is happening. My first step would be to check for malware. If that
doesn't turn anything up (and most WinSock corruptions I've don't act at all
like what you're describing so that's probably not it) then I'd consider
taking this to the networking group. The address for that would be:
