Modem problems - hangs on "Opening Port"

Hi,

I've got a problem and any help would be greatly appriciated.

I'm running Windows XP and just bought a Creative USB Modem Blaster
modem.

The problem is that while the installation went through fine, and the
modem appears in System Manager without any "!"'s or conflicts, when
trying to use it to dial up:

1. it hangs for about five or six minutes on "Opening Port..." with
the modem making some clicking noises

2. then it says "Dialing [my ISP number]..." and the modem beeps

3. about fifteen seconds later Windows reports a No Dial Tone error.

Are there new drivers that would cure this?

Any help would be much appriciated.

I think that you've put the connector in the wreong hole on your modem.
You'd better check that and tell us if that helped.
