.MMV to WMA

Hello there,

I'm not sure if its a typing error or not. What program creates an MMV
file? MMV is an expression in "Linux" speak, but I don't know what it is in
"Windows" speak :)

By .MMV you mean .wmv ?

Then note that
..wmv = windows media video
..wma = windows media audio

So do you want to convert a video to audio format? Or in another words do
you want to extract the audio froma video file ? Please explain.

MMV is MicroMV files from a Sony Digital Camera. Sony digital camera format
is .mmv, and I have been struggling to find a converter to convert to a
Windows readable file.

.

If you have MM2 just import the video with the audio that
you want to extract into a temporary collection and drag
the video onto the 'Audio/Music track'

just export and it will automatically become a .wma file
if done correctly

Hello there,

I did another search and looked further down the list of links and found
this...

http://www.manifest-tech.com/media_pc/micromv.htm#Sony MovieShaker

The page states that the output from this program is an MPEG-3 file. There
are loads of utilities around that would convert that to say an AVI file
which could then be imported with no problems into Movie Maker. There are a
few links on my website under Video that may help...check out DVDR-Help and
SimplyDV and also the Codec Link has a link to an MPeg converter trial
offer. I do know that there are several utilities that will do the job and
are free, you will need to get advice on which is the best (I don't know
much about them)

Thanks guys,

I have downloaded a few utilities that claim will be able to convert mmv
files. I will test them out tonight

Thanks
Mo
