MMC 9.08 Install Problem

Bill Kraski

The original version that came with my TV Wonder says the launcher is
version 8.1, everything else is .2. And no opion to uninstall. I just
grabbed the three files required to upgrade to 9.08. Since they were
listed as downloads 1-3, i assumed that his was the sequence they needed t
be installed in. The objects data stuff intalled without a hitch.
Likewise, the drivers. However, the last MMC install said it couldn't find
theDVD encoder & would ignore that par, then gave me a "culdn't load dll"
error followed by a memory access error (not likely with 1 gig of RAM).
When I retried MMC, the launcher was still 8.1, everything else was 8.2,
but now there's no DVD access. How do I fix it?

Um, get powerDVD?

And your assumption about order of install is wrong, you
should have read the instructions, but it probably wouldn't have
made much difference.

See what M$ says:

There was DVD software included on my box. But MMC doesn't seem to
recognize it.

The only instructions on the download page I got the files from said to
uninstall previous versions of MMC first. Nothing about sequence. Nor
what to do when the original installation didn't include an uninstall.

The new version included an uninstall option, so I uninstalled it,
reinstalled the original version (which did include an uninstall option,
this time), uninstalled that, reinstalled the DAO, new drivers & MMC 9.08
(in that order). Works fine, now.
