Mixer Devices

I just bought a new computer, built by a small company.
I had to install all the drivers and software myself.
I'm not sure if I made some kind of error or if there was
an error with my software.
I can not get any sound out of my speakers. When I try
to pull the volume control up through the start bar, I
get this message:
"There are no active mixer devices available. To install
mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and
Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware."
I searched for "mixer devices" to download, hoping I
could find one and all would be well. When I tried, I
kept getting ofers to DL Roxio CD Creator. I assumed
that mixer devices were included in the software and
would help my problem. I found a copy of Easy CD Creator
5.2 at my office and loaded it onto my CPU. It did not
fix the problem.
I don't know what to do from here. Having no sound on my
PC is annoying.
I had no problems while installing XP, so I don't know
what to think. I contacted the company who built my PC
and they assumed I did not load all the drivers and
software. They are not helpful. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe it's me, but I don't understand what Easy CD Creator has to do with
sound card drivers. If your system was built by a small company, then tech
support should be easier. If the system didn't come with documentation and
drivers for its hardware components, especially the components that Windows
XP doesn't have native drivers for, particularly the sound card (or if the
sound is integrated on the motherboard), ask the company where the drivers
are so you can install them.

Uninstall the audiodrivers, delete the audio devices from the
Devicemanager, and restart your system.
Then, Windows will redetect your sound hardware and should ask you the
drivers for it.

Latest drivers should be available from the sound card or PC
manufacturer's WEBsite. Older ones may be on a CD that came with the system.
