Mission Impossible

Hi,

It seems impossible to even think of reducing the footprint of XPe FullXP.

There is a lot I don't need, AD, IIS... But whatever I try to disable, it
ends-up in that I would need to disable some top level component that I do
need!? After hours of trial and error I find it amazing that XP at all
works. ;)

Start with the drivers for the hardware you need and then just add in
the software components that you do and you will be amazed how small you
can get your image!

Andy.

Thanx, I will try that as soon as I got the license for WES2009. As I
understod, one can't copy over XPe .sld file.

It will ofcause open for a lot of trials just to get all components I need.

Some trial and test is part of the development process. As Andy suggested,
only add the items that you need and go from there.

Ok, I'm not low on resources, what I ment to say was:

If I disable all (un-needed) AD components, why on earth would I get 44
errors!?
Among those:
Client Printing
COM+ Services
IIS Common Libraries
Telephony
Windows .net Messenger

In my world AD is a toplevel component in the OS, something that only
installed apps would depend on. The same goes for IIS.

When trying to disable components, at least I, get the impession that the OS
is like a kettle of boiled spagetti. Well stirred.
