Hello,
During bootup, I got the following message
=========================================================
Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows
with the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
=========================================================
To attempt the repair, I used the instructions given in
How to Recover from a Corrupted Registry [Q307545]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545
I followed the instructions today. When I get to step 2, I
find that there are no restore points or snapshots predating today.
The problem first occured last week, so there should have been restore
points dating last week and before. What happened to all my restore
points? Are they there, but just not viewable? I did sign on as
Administrator, albeit the new Admin created by the repair. What to
do now?
