Missing ODBC drivers

K

Kerry

I'm running 64bit Vista and it appears I do not have any MS Access ODBC
drivers. In the ODBC Administrator, I do have MS Access visible under User
DSN but when I try to set up and ODBC connection I am advised the setup
routine for the drivers are not found and I need to reinstall. Supposedly the
drivers ship with Vista, yet selecting it was not part of the install
process.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are no 64 bit driver for Access/JET avalaible at this moment.
However, if the program for which you want to access the Access database is
running in the 32 bit emulated world ("Windows 32 bit on Windows 64 bit" or
WOW64), then you can use the 32 bit version of the ODBC Administrator to
create a 32 bit DSN:

\windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe

Don't forget that DSN created with odbcad32.exe can only be accessed from
programs running under the 32 bit emulation mode (WOW64 and don't ask me why
they don't call it WOW32).

In am experiencing the same problem.

Do you know if 64 bit drivers will ever become available (and when)?
