Missing Memory

I just got a new pc from a vendor. It uses an Athlon fx-51 cpu and an msi mother board with the via kt800 chipset

Here's the issue

I have 2 infineon pc3200 512mb ecc-r ddr400 registered memory sticks inserted into slots 1&2 of the k8tmaster (these slots are meant for dual channel memory).

In booting, the system registers 1gb of memory.

Under the general tab in windows xp for system properties, it registers 1gb of memory.

But with msinfo32.exe, it only shows 512mb. Same thing with My Computer Information - General - only 512mb. When trying one stick at a time, the msinfo32 only shows 256mb (half of what the stick actually is)

Dwnload the memory test utility see what it comes up with,you'l
need a floppy formated in DOS,then double click the dwnload to activat
and install to floppy,then restart computer,select boot to floppy.
