Missing Local SAP Database

My daughter has a Win2K machine running as a single home computer. Machine
started doing quite a bit of unsolicited shutdowns or reboots, probably due
to overheating, since it is quite dirty inside. One finally did some damage,
apparently by corrupting or deleting the local SAP Database. How do I
restore or rebuild it?
Proper info to restore desktop, settings, etc. still seems to be in
C:\Documents and Settings.

We don't know. Check the instruction manual or possibly the application
developer's web site. Also check the event log for clues.

The database I am referring to is a part of Windows 2000. Maybe I am using
the wrong acronym , but I think the full name is Local Security Access Policy
Database.

We finally got to the meat of the matter. I tried "update in place", but
even that didn't work. I finally bit the bullet, saved everything in sight,
and reformatted the C: drive, and did a clean reinstall of the OS. Even
though nothing would work in the end, it was a valuable learning experience.

Thanks for the help.
