Hello There........

I have been trying to locate my control panel for weeks and I can not find it anywhere. I am not compter savvy at all!! I do believe I have been hacked and infected by a virus. I downloaded Windows Live One Care and can not even activate the spyware/antivirus stuff because I no longer have 'administrative priviledges on my own computer!! I have seen that you have helped some other users with similar issues so can you help me??
I have a Compac Presario 2200 laptop runs with Windows XP. I have windows live one care and registry smart to monitor for viruses etc. I connect to the internet using a Cingular Wireless Card (that frequently boots me)....time for an upgrade!!!

Please, run again Hijack This and choose Scan a system only, and check and fix next proccesses:

O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O7 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System, DisableRegedit=1

Also, after that post another HijackThis log and we will see if it's better.

a previous fix for this problem

Download to your Desktop FixPolicies.exe, a self-extracting ZIP archive from here: http://cid-6aaab341ce47c5c2.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/FixPolicies.exe

  • Double-click FixPolicies.exe.
  • Click the "Install" button on the bottom toolbar of the box that will open.
  • The program will create a new Folder called FixPolicies.
  • Double-click to Open the new Folder, and then double-click the file within: Fix_Policies.cmd.
  • A black box will briefly appear and then close. You can ignore any warnings or error messages. This will enable your Control Panel and stop the Administrative warnings, at least until the malware infection resets the registry policy keys again. You can run this as many times as you like. A permanent fix requires removing the malware. "
This was in response to those who had "lost" their "Control Panel" ; it MAY be useful in this
