Missing Characters (Font?) In Older Game Run On Widescreen Notebook

P

Patient Guy

I have a Hasbro Interactive game probably written for a Win 9x version
several years ago.

I am running the game in XP with a widescreen laptop. None of the
characters show up in the menus or game at all. All other images---
including the menu boxes, item containers, borders, etc. appear.

This may be screen resolution-dependent: in another laptop running XP
with standard screen, the characters appear as they should.

By the way, the game tries to install DirectShow and DirectX (older
versions, I think). Not sure if this is related.

Anyone have a solution?

Try running the game on that laptop in Compatibility mode and use a
lower resolution like 800x600.
