Minimized icons not showing program when clicked

I have some programs which show in the task bar when they are minimized,
and when I click them they do not come to the front and show themselves
but remain hidden. The taskbar icon and description for the program will
show orange. What does this mean and why are these programs not being
broguth to the front and shown ?

Try a second click. If no luck, right click the button and choose Restore.
If no luck, is there a program "stuck" on the top? Check its settings to
see if its set to "full screen" or "always on top." Change full screen
display to windowed display and/or remove the always on top option.

Also, if you sometimes use a second monitor, the apps may be "appearing" on
the monitor that is no longer connected. In this case, you can try:
1) right click on taskbar and select Cascade windows
2) right click on application's taskbar button and select "move." Use arrow
keys to move the application from the ghost monitor onto the main desktop.
3) reconnect the second monitor. Move the app back to the main monitor and
then close it to reinforce the main desktop as the location for the app to
appear the next time that it opens.
4) The driver/software package for your display card may include a desktop
manager. If it does, check the controls for an option to return "missing"
windows back to the main desktop.

An orange button on the taskbar means a program needs your attention for
some reason or it is ready. For example: A slow loading browser page that
you clicked away from has finished loading. The orange alerts you that the
page is now ready for viewing.

However, I have no idea why your buttons are showing orange when you click
on them. Without the windows in view (for you or for me), one can only
guess at why the orange is there.
