Very good article. Everything said there pretty much sums up why I like it.

A desktop enviroment for desktop users; no advertising (such as Amazon Link) shoved own your throat; an ear for it's users and heeding their requests and suggestions; media friendly out of the box; it really is easy to use.

Meanwhile, for Ubuntu: Voluntary donation request page; Unity; Obsession with tablet devices, that Amazon Link; a disregard for it's users' feedback.

I note Steam will only likely be usable on Ubuntu intially, perhaps forever. If that happens then they will pretty much have mutated into just another Microsoft or Apple distribution. We shall see.

In the meantime, this boy here who does not sit comfortably with Linux console commands, likes Mint 14 a great deal :)
