Midis no longer play - no help found in other posts

In PowerPoints (2003) I created only a few weeks ago and in new ones, midi
files
will no longer play on my computer or others. They will play separately,
but not in PowerPoint.

Yes, I've checked all the settings and tried the 999 thing. Yes, the linked
midi is in the same file. I've been doing midis in PowerPoint for years so
I'm not a total ditz. Can't think of anything I haven't checked. They just
suddenly quit playing in PowerPoint.

Can anyone help, please? This is making me crazy.

Thanks so much.

Try shortening the path to the file. In other words, COPY the presentation
to a new folder "C:\short\", also copy the midi file into this short folder,
delete the MIDI file link in the presentation, then re-insert from this
short folder.

The media players get a tad confused by file paths longer than about 128
characters. If short works, than it worked. Let us know.

If not, well, let us know that, too.
