The above appears every time I switch on my computer and I do not see it
listed under Control Panel's ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and neither can I see it
listed on C Drive under Windows or Programs. Can anyone please let me know
how this menu can be removed. Thank you.

Don't remove it, you might have use of it some day.

But to shorten the time for the menu to be seen:
Press Win+Pause
Choose Advanced -tab
On list of OSs, choose your Windows installation
Set first time to something short, like 3 or 5 sec
(leave the "show recover.. as is)
OK your way out...

Thank you Thomas for your time. I really would like to remove that part of
the menu. I dont think that it will be of any use in the future as parts are
missing. In any case I have the XP(Home ) installation Cd which has the whole
RecoveryConsole on it.

Then set timeout to 0sec
