Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick - Problem

Adriano Martoni

hello,

I bought the GA-G31M-ES2C Motherboard, but I'm having a problem with the
game port. Since my old Motherboard dont have a gameport the joystick was
connect through a sond card, the C-Media CMI8738/C3DX.

On my old Motherboard, a ASUS A7V600-X, my joystick Microsoft Force Feedback
Pro works fine. But with the new Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2C motherboard, the
joystick acts a little wierd.

In the game controllers panel, looks OK, but when you enter in the
properties os the joystick, he acts like a crazy. The buttons and the axis,
starts to click and move alone. Playing the games, the problems appears also.

Resuming, except by the motherboard, processor and memorys, everything was
the same as in my old computer. So my question is: is there a solution for
this problem? I've update the drivers but with no results. Dont know what
else to try.

I have already written to the developers of the motherboard but the problem
persist. So, I think the problems is in a incompatibility with the old
joystick.

Hope you guys help me with a solution.

Best regards.

You might try a hardware newsgroup, where such problems are commonplace.
But I would suspect the sound card as the cause. You might try a PCI
card with a parallel port.

Did your joystick come with a gameport to USB adaptor? Mine did and that is
what I use now for my joystick (which is the same as yours but without the
force feedback). Everything works fine with that adaptor. My motherboard and
sound card so not have game ports.

Good luck.

Gameport support is "dead." Microsoft has not updated older Gameport
driver (original to Windows 98) and will not update the Force Feedback
software. XP is supposed to see these type of joysticks and let them
work. All / any feedback controls must exist in the game itself.

Gameport based game devices are not parallel port compatible.
Parallel port tend to have 25 pins whereas Gameports use 15 pins.

Hello guys,

first, thanks for quick reply. The C-Media CMI8738/C3DX Sound Card is a PCI
card, Elmo.

Unfortunately, my joystick dont came with a USB adapter. I've buy one, but
didnt work, Martin.

Like I've said, in my old computer, it works fine, smlunatick.

Well, I'll try a little more.

Thanks again!
