Microsoft Reader in Vista

P

Paris

Dear sir or Madam,

I have just purchased a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium already
installed on it. I would like to use Microsoft Reader to read my .LIT ebooks
and I tried several times to activate Microsoft Reader on my computer
following the instructions in
http://das.microsoft.com/activate/en-us/activatefaq.asp#fa_vista.
Unfortunately, I am not still able to use Microsoft Reader in my Program
Files to open the .LIT file with that. I would be grateful if somebody could
advise me in this matter.

This is not Microsoft. It's a public newsgroup where volunteers offer peer
to peer help.

Are you getting an error message when you try to use MR?

Just out of curiosity...what in Paris's post made you think *they* thought
this was Microsoft? I read it as someone in need looking for help.

Hi guys,

Thanks for answering.

-I do not get any error at all.
-After activating the MS Reader, I do not have it in my list of programs or
any where else. Is it normal?
-I had already checked the link SG suggested and unfortunately, it did not
work for me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Paris

Hi again,

Did you follow these instructions?

How do I activate Microsoft Reader if I am running on Windows Vista®
operating System?
If you are running Microsoft Reader on Windows Vista® operating system,
please follow the instructions below to activate

Select the URL below, right-click and select copy
http://das.microsoft.com/activate/en-us/default.asp
In the Start Menu, click on All Programs, right-click on Internet Explorer
icon and select Run As Administrator
Click Allow if you get a User Account Control credential prompt (if you are
not running as local administrator, you may be prompted to enter
administrator credentials)
Right-click in the address bar and paste the URL. Press enter
Now click the "Sign In" button to begin the activation process

Note: After Microsoft Reader activation is completed, please close the
elevated Internet Explorer window.

Hi SG,

Thank you very much for this link. It turned out that I did not have
MSReader on my system at all! I downloaded it and I am so happy now. Thanks
again.
