Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Configuration

When I click on the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 icon on All Programs, a
window entitled, "Microsoft Exchange" opens along with a smaller window to
the upper left entitled, "Configuring Outlook Accounts." I do not know what
to do. I want to open Outlook since I need it for my Dell PDA Axim 50 to
view calendar, contacts etc on my computer. My computer uses Vista Premium
(32-bit) and I use Hotmail as my email. Can anyone help me to take the
necessary steps to successrully open Outlook? I would appreciate it. Thank
you.

Use the Mail Applet in the Control Panel (Classic View) to remove the
exchange account/conection and set up the correct type of connection.
I believe you need to install the outlook Connector to enable Hotmail
configeration

Hi DL,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I do not know what a "Mail Applet"
is nor do I see it in the Ctrl Panel. I just want to be able to open Outlook
so that I am able to view on my computer calendar, contact items that are on
my PDA. Previously, I was able to view these items with Outlook on my
computer; however recently my computer was reformatted and Outlook was
erased. Also, I had not used Outlook as my email server, I continued to use
Hotmail. I hope that I am making this clear. Thanks.

You have to View the Control Panel in Classic View to access the mail applet
(Icon)

Outlook isnt a mail server, its a mail application
You cannot open outlook until you have reset its configeration - an
uninstall / reinstall wont help

I did open Ctrl Panel, Classic View. Three tabs appear: Email Accounts,
Data Files, and Show Profiles. I do not know which tab to open.

Your response:
"...remove the exchange account/connection and set up the correct type of
connection. I believe you need to install the outlook Connector to enable
Hotmail
configeration."

1. I do not know how to complete these actions nor do I know what they mean.
2. For example, how do I determine the "correct type of connection?"
3. How do I install an Outlook Connector to enable Hotmail configuration?
I apologize for my ignorance but am willing to learn and try. Thanks.

I downloaded Outlook Connector. However, when I click on the Outlook icon it
still states:
"The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online
or connected to complete this action."

I am going crazy with this and feel I am going in circles.

You then have to open the mail applet
Show Profiles
Create a new Profile (Using the corect type of mail account) & set that
Profile as default
Since I dont use Hotmail or the Connector I'm unsure of the type of mail
account to configure, allthough from a google search I believe it to be a
HTTP mail account

DL,
Thank you very much. Your last response did it. I appreciate both your
time and patience in helping me with this very difficult situation that I
faced. Keep up the good work. I think I resolved a few kinks with the
Windows Mobile Device Center and Outlook in coordination with my syncing with
my PDA. If other problems arise and persist, I will be sure to post them.
Have a good evening and I sincerely appreciate your competent assistance.
Best regards, Junior
