Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

I am showing 2 copies of Framework 1.1 loaded in add/programs (they seem the
same) also 1 copy of Framework 2. My OS is Winxp2005 core, do I need 2
copies installed? What exactly is Framework?

It really depends on which particular applications / programs that you use
/ have installed.

Some programs require framework 1.1 and others require framework 2.0 in
order to operate properly. If you only use a few select applications, then
you may not need either.
