For nearly a year now, when I go to Microsoft to do the upgrades, I always
have gotten this message.
Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (update 1 of
2)...Failed.
All other upgrades installed correctly.
The computer is a new Sony laptop, WinXP Home, SP-2, all critical and secure
updates in place except it always says this one failed. Googled several like
topics, but not understanding what is happening to show it as failed.
Add/Remove programs show Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 as well as Microsoft
..NET Framework 1.1 (hotfix KB886904) have been installed, as well as
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. All upgrades download and install correctly,
and always have except Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. It appears that it is
already here on the computer and is already installed, but Microsoft keeps
insisting that it needs to be installed. Sure would appreciate any comments
that might help other than "Google is your friend". Thanks.
