microsoft internet explorer security

I would like to know from someone just how critical the
situation is with explorer. I RECEIVED AN E MAIL ABOUT
A "TROJAN" FILE THAT IS OUT THERE(THEY BELIEVE THE
CULPRIT IS IN RUSSIA)THAT COULD "STEAL YOUR IDENTITY" The
email is from SCAMBUSTERS. In it, it suggests switching
over to the FIREFOX browser. I did but I do not like it
because it seems I need to download all new plugins for
most, if not all my favorite sites, especially
sweepstakes ones. The email also mentioned that Micorsoft
also knows of this and released 7 new patches pertaining
to this matter. However, when getting to explorer's
website, not CRITIAL updates were available. Does anyone
know what these 7 new patches are and the names of them?
Any information on this would be appreciated. thanks.

No need for shouting.

840315 is the latest [Tuesday] IE patch I know off, although I do use
Opera [on Linux and XP] instead of IE whenever possible. IE related
problems are simply too numerous to list them all,
