Microsoft Intelli-Mouse 1.0 stops responding

Lately, my USB Microsoft Intelli-Mouse 1.0 mouse just locks up. The light is
on but the pointer won't move. I've been re-booting my system to restore the
mouse. Please help.

Install a fresh set of video adapter drivers. If that does not
solve the issue, then your video card is likely defective and
should be replaced.
