microsoft explorer continually freezes for me... FireFox does not for me

I bought a new Dell computer not too long ago. WIthin the first day of
having it, internet explorer was quitting (giving me the option of
sending error messages to microsoft). I didn't go to any websites that
were out of the ordinary or download any software. This continued for
a couple of weeks. I now use FireFox and I think in the month or so I
have used it, it has "crashed" maybe twice.

what makes explorer do this?

Hi xyzer,

Have you updated your computer with Windows Updates since you purchased it.
The first time you started it, it should have asked you to register your
windows license and check for Windows updates. It is very important that you
get any updates from the first time you use the 'puter. Since you said that
the problems started from the first day that you started using it, I suspect
that indeed this may be the cause.

Once registered you have options to automatically check for updates from
Microsoft, which I would recommend.

To check for updates select the Start>Windows Update menu option.
