Give it time....

OK - first attempt: 150/148
Second attempt: 150/148
(checked scan results, and GiantAntispwareMain GPF'd)
reopened
third attempt: 150/148

(I give up--that's enough for me--it'll take care of itself--I'll check it
again tomorrow, or late tonight.)

Got it this time--4th attempt, but what really did it was--just waiting.

This really will change--an anouncement has just gone out to WSUS admins
that they will see a new category of updates--Windows Defender. It'll be
awhile before this is real--but the groundwork is being laid.

OOPS - my PC's clock was set as Feb instead of Jan and caused the newsgroup
sort by date to show it on the top. The message was actually posted 1/19
(and has been resolved). The newsgroup postings should be whatever
date/time the post is actually made and not rely on me to get it right!

OK this morning - I just wish I was smart enough to figure out what causes this!

Mostly the server, Rusty and MSAS is a Beta ;)
We are here to help, whenever you need it.

I agree with Randy--the cause us usually beyond your control--don't worry
about it--it'll be fixed with beta2.

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete \program files\microsoft antispyware and subfolders
You will lose access to any quarantined items, history, and custom settings.
3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware taking care to be logged in as the
administrator user who will most frequently use the program.

They download and appear to install, but "check for updates" reveals the
same old looping problem - 5795 to 5797 just installs over and over. Same
results on two PC's.
