Microphone Still not working

equipment is plugged in properly and its not turned off
on the head piece. It is not working and when i test it
does not produce any signs of working. It worked about 5
days ago.

Have you checked the Volume control (Recording), to make sure
that Microphone is the current selected input device ? and that the
volume control for Mic is set at least to 45% or greater.
Also, many Sound Card drivers have dedicated applets for setting
up the mixer and volume controls. Usually, the XP native & vendor
supplied applets work in tandem, but not always.

Try a new one. Or try it on another computer.

The cordset and connector of most "computer" headsets
are extremely cheesy and will NOT hold up to the rigors
of what would be considered normal use. It's probably
gone bad internally.
