mic doesn't record

I have a creative sound blaster audigy 2 zs platinum pro sound card and I am
trying to record my voice in "sound recorder" and it doesn't work. The mic is
pluged into the mic jack on the box for the sound card and the light on the
box is on. The volume is at max on the box. But still it doesn't record my
voice. I need to know why it won't work.

Double click on the speaker icon in System Tray, then on Options,
Properties, and put a check mark in Recording. Is the Mic set to Mute....?
If so, reset it.

I double clicked on the speaker icon in the system tray and there is no
"properties" and "options" there.
