Metadata Fragmentation

Metadata is always highly fragmented per PerfectDisk 2008. I defrag both
Offline and Online and withing a day or so the Metadata file is 25% or
greater fragmented and the other files are 3% or less. Why does this occur?
Can I stop it? Is is really a performance issue?

Thanks in advance,

Raxco make claims about how well they defragment metadata files. That I
suspect is why TaurArian recommended you ask there. Can you post a copy
of the report by Perfect Disk.

What anti-virus programme are you using?

Hope this helps.

As a new user of "Raxco Perfect Disk" let me say that this defragger is
the best in the world. I've tried 32 defrag programs and none can even
come close to Raxco. Make sure to see a before and after or you won't
know how good it is.

????

If you can't tell how good it is "after," why not just stick with the
"before?"

I use ESET NOD32 for AV, and CA PestPatrol for malware.

I wasn't concerned about a Raxco claim, but rather after defrag to "0%" that
in a day or two am back to +25%. Perhaps this is OK and not causing any
particular system slowdowns or other issues. Maybe Raxco is too finiky about
it. Anyway, I have sent a request for support to Raxco. Automated reply so
far ;)
