Hi Fly,

Interesting. How long have you actually waited for it to unfreeze? It might be worth
waiting up to a minute or two just to see if it releases.

Additionally, is this completely reproducible? In other words, can you launch Messenger,
open up a conversation window, close it and then it freezes -- without actually saying
anything?

Finally, do you have the message history on? In slightly older machines, after you've spoken
to someone and close their window, Messenger may appear to freeze as it parses and saves the
message history for that contact. If it's on, it might be worth testing just to turn it off
temporarily, do whatever you do to normally cause this problem and see if that helped or
solved it.

sorry for delay in replying, it locks till i can close it, one strange thing
though it seems to only happen or mainly happen when i talk to one person. or
if that person im's me and i am away and they close there end down then it
locks here, it's windows xp and pc's about 1 yr old, to sum it locks when
either end closes window or signs out if my im window is open, i am signed in
to internet 99% of time, the only change that i have done that might effect
it or not . is changed me email on my account but i dont see how that would
effect it. have tried uninstalling and reinstalling messenger but that did'nt
work.
hope this helps
