messenger with XP problem

Often once my computer loads messenger wont connect. I am
using windows XP - and if I restart it, usually,
messenger will connect then. Any thoughts as to why this
is?? Please email me

Open messenger : Go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > PREFERENCES >
under the General Tab , make sure these two options sre
checked :

* Run this program when windows starts
* Allow this program to run in the background
