Messenger 5.0 and Hotmail

L

Leonard Greenberg

I use Messenger to access .NET and Exchange messaging. I upgraded to
Messenger 5.0 based on a recent Microsoft security EMAIL. With Messenger
4.7, I would get notifications of new messages arriving in my Hotmail
(personal) Inbox (add-in functionality). When I upgraded to 5.0, the
notification went away and I cannot find an equivalent add-in for Messenger
5.0.

Other things that I don't see:

Order of sign-on - despite documentation references, there does not appear
to be a way to specify which service gets "sign-on"ed to first.

My Inbox - Use to take me to Hotmail inbox, now takes me to Outlook. Does
not appear to be a way to configure this differently.

Are these functions gone? Are they somewhere else?

I would appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Greetings Leonard,

The built-in Hotmail support is gone -- it's in MSN Messenger 6 now (which does not have
Exchange IM support).

You can really control which service is signed in what order. You can change the Inbox to go
to Hotmail by opening Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then
Programs tab, and change the E-mail header to Hotmail. This will *not* get the alert windows
that you've received a new e-mail in your Hotmail inbox back.
