Messenger 2009 - No old animoticons

Emanuele

I've installed the 2009 Messenger version but I've lost all the animaticon
that I've bought in the past. Do you have any idea if I can get again all the
animoticons ?
Thanks in advance

We had the same problem and got this advice from Jonathan Kay, so now
Jonathan
doesn't have to look for it anymore ;-)
See following message below:

Greetings,

They are stored at the following location;
On XP:
\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons

and on Vista:
\Users\username\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons

Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live
ID e-mail address.

Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see
them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the
toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden
files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.

Within the folder you'll see .id2 and .dt2 files. The .id2 is the
information on how to load
the emoticon (the key combination, name, etc.) and the .dt2 file is the
actual image. For
quick browsing, you can pop up an Internet Explorer window and just drag
..dt2 files into the
IE window to see the image.
