from the start button click on run. type in the box
services.msc and hit OK. the service panel will appear.
find Messenger and select
click on Properties button on the tool bar, services
properties will appear.
Set the Start up type to disabled, click on Stop, apply.

i did this last night and so far so good

thanks for posting this, hope it works because i get those
every minute it seems when i'm online.
i'll have to turn it back on when i'm offline since other
apps depend on it.
