Memory stick

I made the mistake of removing a memory stick from a USB port while
the computer was either reading or writing something on the drive.

Now the computer won't read the drive. It doesn't exist, as far as the
computer is concerned. I have rebooted a few times, both with and
without the memory stick. No luck.

you have corrupted the memory stick by not using "safely remove hardware"
which is an icon in the task bar near the time

if it doesn't show in computer management as a removeable device that is
unallocated space or such, you might have fried it.
if it does show, you may be able to format it, make it active or whatever
you need to maske it work again.
