memory parity error

Beck

I installed a usb2 card reader onto my Vista (home premium).

It installed okay and normally it has no problems. But a couple of times
now when plugging it in I get a blue screen and "Memory Parity Error". No
other information. Unplugging does not recover the computer. It requires a
hard reset.

Any ideas please?

Probably just a bad memory stick.

Assuming the error message is correct, your computer memory is being
flaky so the motherboard signals a hardware failure.

In my experience, overheating is the most common cause of intermittent
hardware errors, but certainly not the only cause. I check for dust
on the integrated circuits, fan failure, inadequate air space around
the computer box, etc.

If none of those things apply to you, here is a link showing how to
test your computer memory for reliability:

Thanks. I don't think my memory is at fault, I think it is the card reader
itself. I only get the error when I plug in card reader (with no memory
cards attached)
