Media Player 9 Update KB917734 Hangs

I have repeatedly attempted to install the automatic update KB917734 on a
system 2000/sp 4 system. It gets about half way through the install and
goes to sleep. Anyone know what might be the cause of the hang?

I am still unable to get this update to install successfully. I am just
leaving it uninstalled. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a
way to fix it?
